A new motor or a complete conversion?

When replacing a motor, the compatibility with your existing installation is important. With a different type of propulsion, you should compare the entire system: motor, controls, power supply, and the parts required for installation. Therefore, the standalone motor price does not always reflect the total budget.

When making your inquiry, clearly state what you wish to keep and what you want to replace. Mention your current propulsion system, available space, and your desired speed and cruising time. Then, request an overview of the necessary components and the costs for the complete combination.

Choose the propulsion type first
  • Outboard motors: compare shaft length, controls, and available models.
  • Inboard motors: start with the existing installation and available mounting space.
  • Pod drives: compare mounting, power, and the required battery.
  • Hybrid propulsion: explore how to combine electric boating with your existing combustion engine.

For tailored motor advice, the boat model, total weight, current motor, and desired speed are a good place to start.
