ePropulsion Spirit 2.0 – silent, powerful, and safe electric boating

The ePropulsion Spirit 2.0 is the latest generation of electric outboard motors, combining power, safety, and ease of use. With a continuous power output of 2 kW and a 3kW peak power of 1 minute, this motor is a full-fledged alternative to a traditional internal combustion engine, but quieter, cleaner, and low-maintenance.
This motor is the successor to the (also available Spirit 1 Evo with 1kW power and 1.3 kW battery capacity).

Advanced display and extra safety

The Spirit 2.0 is equipped with an integrated color display that instantly shows accurate information about battery status, power, and remaining run time. The display can be easily switched between day mode (light background) and night mode (dark background), making it comfortable to read in all conditions.

For extra safety, the motor is fitted with a magnetic kill switch. Uniquely, this magnetic chip can be deactivated via the menu, meaning the motor will continue to function even if the chip is accidentally lost overboard.

Powerful and silent electric motor

Thanks to the high-quality brushless DC motor, the Spirit 2.0 achieves an overall efficiency of approximately 50%. The motor is also exceptionally quiet, with a noise level of below 60 dB, making it significantly quieter than conventional gasoline outboards.

The speed is infinitely adjustable, allowing you to always select precisely the desired power.

Flexible control and accessories

The Spirit 2.0 features an extendable tiller handle that can be folded in multiple positions. This ensures optimal maneuverability and comfort on board. Additionally, a wide range of optional accessories and charging systems are available, allowing the motor to be fully customized to your use.

Battery and range in practice

The replaceable 1.54 kWh lithium-ion battery offers a very generous range in practice. With normal use, a run time of approximately 6 hours is achievable, depending on boat weight, load, and cruising speed.

Some practical examples:

Full power (2 kW continuous): approximately 40 minutes run time
With 3 kW boost: approximately 30 minutes
Half power (1 kW): more than 1.5 hours of cruising at approx. 8.5 km/h (± 13 km range)
Low power (250 W): up to 6 hours of cruising at approx. 6 km/h (± 36 km range)
Very low power (100 W): more than 15 hours of cruising at approx. 4 km/h, ideal for fishermen

For longer trips, the battery can be easily swapped, and a spare battery is optionally available.

Charging and hydrogeneration

The battery can be fully charged within 7 hours via mains power (also via a generator) with the included charger. Additionally, charging via a 12V onboard system or solar panels is possible.
Unique is the possibility of hydrogeneration while sailing. Between 3 and 16 knots, the motor generates power:

approx. 380 W at 10 knots
up to 1.5 kW at 16 knots

Especially during multi-day trips, this is a valuable addition to the range.

Choice of three shaft heights

The ePropulsion Spirit 2.0 is available in three versions:

Extra short shaft (30–40 cm transom height) – suitable for kayaks, canoes, and boats with a flat transom
Short shaft (40–50 cm) – ideal for inflatables and tender sloops with a well.
Long shaft (>50 cm) – perfect for sailing boats outboard sloops.

Warranty and reliability

The Spirit 2.0 comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. ePropulsion offers the option to extend this to 3 years after online registration. We can fully arrange this for you if desired.

Thrust: The power is comparable to 6 HP. Electric motors have a much higher thrust than a petrol engine.
The motor is suitable for bringing boats up to 1,800 kg to cruising speed and boats up to 600 kg to hull speed. With the boost: up to 2,700 kg cruising speed and 900 kg bow speed.
This motor is therefore very suitable for RIBs, (tender) sloops, inflatables (mostly up to 5 meters) and sailboats (up to 7 meters).
For boats with a lower weight, the Spirit 1.0 electric outboard motor is available.
For heavier boats, the ePropulsion Navy 3.0 Evo 3kW or Navy 6 with 6kW is available.
The advantage of a second battery: All ePropulsion components are available separately. This also applies to the battery, which is easy to disconnect. It is therefore possible to purchase a second battery. If you go out with two fully charged batteries, you assure yourself of a good day of boating.
It is also possible to use ePropulsion batteries with higher capacity: E-series or other LFP batteries.

Explanation of sea trial

Performance values were measured on a 3.5 meter (11.5 ft) aluminum boat.
Boat weight: 65 kg.
Load: one person and one Spirit battery.
Test conditions: calm inland water (lake).
Actual speed, range, and run time may vary due to boat type, load, weather conditions, and cruising style.

Sport mode

Sport mode delivers a maximum power of 3000 W.
Sport mode can be used for a maximum of 1 minute.
Minimum battery charge (SoC) for sport mode: 20%.
Battery and motor temperatures must be within safe limits.

Run time and battery protection

The stated run time is measured from 100% to 5% battery charge (SoC).
Below 5% SoC, power is automatically limited to a maximum of 50 W.
This allows the Spirit 2 to continue functioning at 50 W for an extended period when the battery charge is low.
