ePropulsion Spirit 2: 2 kW, 3 kW boost | Marinaut – Marinaut Tenders, Sloepen en Bootmotoren

The ePropulsion Spirit 2 is a portable electric outboard motor with 2 kW continuous power and a temporary 3 kW boost power. The motor is available with a removable 1,539 Wh battery and combines quiet propulsion with hydrogeneration, a color display, and various control and shaft length options.

2 kW continuous and 3 kW boost

The motor provides a maximum of 2 kW as standard. Both the tiller and the remote control can be used to temporarily switch to 3 kW. After a maximum of one minute, the motor switches back to 2 kW. The boost can be reactivated immediately afterwards and is available from 20% battery charge, provided the battery and motor remain within safe temperature limits.

With the temporary 3 kW boost, the Spirit 2 is effectively comparable to approximately 5 hp of propulsive power up to 10 hp of thrust. At the continuous power of 2 kW, the comparison is lower. Electric power, thrust, and the motor power of a combustion engine cannot be converted directly.

Choose configuration

Control: tiller or remote control (includes RS485-to-S-CAN converter).
Shaft length: extra short, short, or long. Extra short is only available with a tiller.
Battery: version with the 1,539 Wh Spirit Battery Ultra or without a battery.

Power and application

As a practical Marinaut guideline, 2 kW can bring boats of up to approximately 1,800 kg to cruising speed and lighter boats of up to approximately 600 kg to hull speed. With the temporary 3 kW boost, these guidelines are approximately 2,700 and 900 kg. These are not guaranteed performance figures: hull shape, load, wind, current, propeller, and waterway conditions have a significant influence.

Factory test with a 3.5-meter aluminum boat weighing 65 kg, one person, one Spirit battery, and calm inland water. Runtime is measured from 100% to 5% battery charge. Speed, runtime, and range can vary significantly with a different boat.

Spirit Battery Ultra

Hydrogeneration

While sailing, the propeller can charge the battery. According to ePropulsion, hydrogeneration works between approximately 3 and 16 knots. The specified yield is approximately 380 W at 10 knots and up to approximately 1.5 kW at 16 knots. The actual charging yield depends on speed, installation, and conditions.

Choosing shaft length

Extra short: generally for a transom height of 30–40 cm; not available with remote control.
Short: generally for a transom height of 40–50 cm.
Long: generally for a transom height over 50 cm.

Measure your transom height before ordering. The correct length also depends on the hull shape and the placement of the motor.
