ePropulsion Spirit 2.0 – silent, powerful and safe electric boating
The ePropulsion Spirit 2.0 is the latest generation of electric outboard motors, combining power, safety, and ease of use. With a continuous output of 2 kW and a peak output of up to 3 kW , this motor is a fully-fledged alternative to a traditional combustion engine, yet quieter, cleaner, and low-maintenance.
This motorcycle is the successor to the ( also available Spirit 1 Evo with 1kW power and 1.3 kW battery capacity).
Advanced display and extra safety
The Spirit 2.0 features an integrated color display that provides accurate information at a glance about battery status, power, and remaining cruising time. The display can be easily switched between day mode (bright background) and night mode (dark background), making it easy to read in all conditions.
For added safety, the engine is equipped with a magnetic key (kill switch) . Uniquely, this magnetic chip can be deactivated via the menu, ensuring the engine continues to function even if the chip is accidentally lost.
Powerful and quiet electric motor
Thanks to its high-quality brushless DC motor, the Spirit 2.0 achieves an overall efficiency of approximately 50% . The motor is also exceptionally quiet, with a noise level below 60 dB , making it significantly quieter than conventional gasoline outboard motors.
The speed is infinitely variable , so you can always select exactly the power you want.
Flexible operation and accessories
The Spirit 2.0 features a telescoping tiller that can be folded into multiple positions. This ensures optimal maneuverability and onboard comfort. A wide range of optional accessories and charging systems are also available, allowing you to tailor the engine to your specific needs.
Battery and range in practice
The replaceable 1.54 kWh lithium-ion battery offers a very long range in practice. Under normal use, a cruising time of approximately 6 hours is achievable, depending on boat weight, load, and cruising speed.
Some practical examples:
-
Full power (2 kW continuous) : approximately 40 minutes of sailing time
-
With 3 kW boost : approximately 30 minutes
-
Half power (1 kW) : more than 1.5 hours of sailing at approx. 8.5 km/h (± 13 km range)
-
Low power (250 W) : up to 6 hours of sailing at approx. 6 km/h (± 36 km range)
-
Very low power (100 W) : more than 15 hours of sailing at approx. 4 km/h, ideal for fishermen
For longer trips, the battery can be easily changed and a spare battery is available as an option.
Charging and hydrogen generation
The battery can be fully charged in 7 hours via mains power (or a generator) using the included charger. Charging via a 12V onboard electrical system or solar panels is also possible.
A unique feature is the ability to generate hydropower while sailing. The engine generates energy between 3 and 16 knots :
-
approx. 380 W at 10 knots
-
up to 1.5 kW at 16 knots
This is a valuable addition to the range, especially during multi-day trips.
Choice of three shaft heights
The ePropulsion Spirit 2.0 is available in three variants:
-
Extra short shaft (30–40 cm transom height) – suitable for kayaks, canoes and boats with a flat transom
-
Short shaft (40–50 cm) – ideal for inflatable boats and tenders with a bun.
-
Long shaft (>50 cm) – perfect for sailing boats and outboard sloops.
Warranty and reliability
The Spirit 2.0 comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty . ePropulsion offers the option to extend this to 3 years after online registration. We can take care of this for you completely, if desired.

-
Thrust: The power is comparable to 6 hp. Electric motors have a much higher thrust than a gasoline engine.
The engine is suitable for boats up to 1,800 kilograms (4,000 lbs) at cruising speed and boats up to 600 kilograms (1,300 lbs) at hull speed. With the boost function, it can reach up to 2,700 kilograms (5,900 lbs) at cruising speed and 900 kilograms (1,900 lbs) at bow speed.
This engine is therefore very suitable for RIBs, (tender) sloops, rubber boats (usually up to 5 meters) and sailing boats (up to 7 meters).
For boats with a lighter weight, the Spirit 1.0 electric outboard motor is available.
For boats with a higher weight, the ePropulsion Navy 3.0 Evo 3kW or the Navy 6 with 6kW is available. - The advantage of a second battery: All components of the ePropulsion are available separately, including the battery, which is easily detachable. This means you can purchase a second battery. Going out with two fully charged batteries guarantees a good day of sailing.

Explanation of sailing test
- The performance values were measured on a 3.5 meter (11.5 ft) aluminum boat.
- Boat weight: 65 kg.
- Load: one person and one Spirit battery.
- Test conditions: calm inland water (lake).
- Actual speed, range, and travel time may vary depending on boat type, load, weather conditions, and sailing style.
Sports mode
- Sports mode delivers a maximum power of 3000 W.
- The sports mode can be used for a maximum of 1 minute.
- Minimum battery charge (SoC) for sport mode: 20%.
- Battery and engine temperatures must be within safe limits.
Sailing time and battery protection
- The stated sailing time is measured from 100% to 5% battery charge (SoC).
- Below 5% SoC, power is automatically limited to a maximum of 50 W.
- This allows the Spirit 2 to continue operating at 50 W for a long time even when the battery is low.
