ePropulsion Spirit 1 kW Plus Tiller Handle Electric outboard motor including 1.3 kWh battery

ePropulsion Spirit 1 kW Plus Tiller Handle Electric outboard motor including 1.3 kWh battery

ePropulsion Spirit Plus 1.0 kW electric outboard motor

  • The ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Plus (tiller) is a lightweight electric outboard motor with an integrated battery: best in its class!
  • The starting price includes a battery and we also have a pre-owned long shaft (see prices on this page) with warranty at a discount.
  • Its power is comparable to 3 HP. However, electric motors have much higher thrust than petrol engines. The motor is suitable for bringing boats up to 900 kilograms to cruising speed and boats up to 300 kilograms to hull speed.
This motor is therefore very suitable for RIBs, sloops, inflatable boats (mostly up to 5 meters) and sailboats (up to 7 meters).

For heavier boats, you can order an ePropulsion Navy 3.0 Evo 3kW 6 hp Electric Outboard Motor 48V or an ePropulsion Navy 6.0 Evo 6kW 10 hp Electric Outboard Motor 465 LBS 48V.

  • There is also an Evo Plus variant:

    • with hydrogeneration (charging while sailing)

    • remote control (steering wheel control)

    • and man overboard wristband (option)

  • 1,276 wH (1.3 kWh) unsinkable battery: Easily replaceable with a second battery for extended range. More economical and 40% (!) larger battery capacity than the Torqeedo Travel 1103 C. With a consumption of 330 Watt per hour (Wh), you can sail for 4.5 hours. At 6 kilometers per hour, the range is then 27 kilometers. Sufficient for most watersports enthusiasts.
  • You can also connect the E40 2048wH battery or other AGM or LiFePO4 (for this you need a special external E-series battery cable 1.5 meters €159, item number 00-0601-08)
  • Supplied as a complete set: The Spirit 1.0 Plus comes with a complete package, you receive a multifunctional display, propeller, battery, charger and intelligent key (select variant with battery).
  • Amazingly quiet: The Spirit 1.0 is virtually silent with a direct-drive motor. There is no gearbox, which means less friction in the motor. The noise level of the Spirit is comparable to the noise level of an electric toothbrush. Fancy a relaxing trip? That's exactly what electric boating offers.
  • Electric start: No more pulling like with a fuel engine.
  • Adjustable maximum power: Safe for children, for example.
  • Friendly for left-handers: You can accelerate by turning the throttle handle to either the left or the right.
  • Maintenance-free: The Spirit Plus 1.0 is a game-changer. Spend much less time on maintenance or winterization. Replace the anti-corrosion anode only when necessary after 200 hours and grease a few components. Spend less time on your outboard motor and more time enjoying the water.
  • More economical than a fuel engine: 1 hour at full throttle with the Spirit costs less than 0.25 euro (1 kWh). 1 hour at full throttle with a 3hp fuel engine costs about 1 liter = 1.80 euro. A fuel engine needs an annual minor service (110 euro) and sometimes a major service (200 euro). So at 50 hours per year, you save over 225 euro in costs! After just 3 years of boating, electric boating becomes the most economical (a fuel engine is about 50% lower in purchase price).
  • Automatically switches off after half an hour of inactivity.
  • With a total weight of 19 kilograms including the battery, the set is portable, especially with the accompanying ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Motor and Battery Bag. The control handle (tiller) is easily foldable.
  • In case of damage during sailing, coverage falls under your private liability insurance. This usually covers motor capacities up to 1 kW.
  • Advantages of electric boating: A premium boating experience. Electric boating is clean, quiet, and requires less maintenance. Compared to other electric boating options, ePropulsion excels as a technological pioneer with guaranteed quality. ePropulsion promises that you will be amazed and can deliver the desired boating experience.
    • Why electric boating?
      • Environmentally friendly: Zero greenhouse gas emissions and motors will not leak oil or fuel.
      • Carefree transport: No stains or odors in your car when transporting fuel or motor.
      • No harmful exhaust fumes: A boat trip with family and friends without the dirty exhaust fumes. Choosing an electric motor means no harmful substances are inhaled by you and your passengers.
      • Save on maintenance costs: A fuel engine needs an annual minor service (€110) and sometimes a major service (€200).
      • Subsidy: Electric boat motors and Lithium batteries are eligible for environmental investment allowance and accelerated depreciation for environmental investments for vessels used for business purposes. The tax advantage with the MIA\Vamil can amount to more than 14% of the investment amount.
      • Why ePropulsion?
        • The best product for the best price: With ePropulsion, you get more horsepower and battery capacity at lower costs. ePropulsion's products are technologically more advanced, more reliable, and of higher quality.
        • Pioneer in technology: ePropulsion is the first company to offer advanced technologies such as FOC (field-oriented control), a maintenance-free closed-loop fluid circulation that you won't find on any other outboard motor.
        • High demands on customer satisfaction: This is evident in the quality of the products, the finish, and after-sales service (good technical support in the Netherlands and Belgium).
        • Quality control: ePropulsion applies strict quality controls and innovates faster than others.
        • Focus on electric boating: The focus has always been on improving the electric boating experience. To achieve this, the past six years have been spent on research and development. Ease of use and experience are central.
        • Attention to detail: Every detail is important and affects the performance of your outboard motor. That's why ePropulsion remains detailed from production to design. It's the smaller details that create the best user experience.

Reviews

  • Since this summer the owner of Gentle 430. A wonderful boat for about 6 people. With the boat we bought the E-propulsion Spirit (motor). Silent, but very strong and a great battery life. Díco
  • Very satisfied with the Epropulsion Spirit 1.0 PLUS - whisper-quiet and remarkably powerful, highly recommended! René December 22, 2020
  • This extra short shaft works well! We tried it out yesterday afternoon and this motor is exactly right. It sits well below the waterline and when tilted, it is almost completely out of the water. Perfect. It also sails great, full throttle between 8 – 9km/h. At one-third power, we achieve between 6.5 and 7 km/h. It is striking that if you significantly reduce the power, the speed does not decrease that much, while the action radius increases considerably! Dirk Jan May 2021.
  • Great product, well made and delivers on performance, convenience, portability and SILENCE! Would earn 5 stars except for two aspects: 1) the tilt mechanism doesn't get the prop fully out of the water; 2) The short shaft is still quite long, actually too long. I would opt for an EXTRA short shaft if you think you need a short shaft. But in terms of performance, the ePropulsion meets all my expectations. It's not just quiet, but the fine control for docking goes far beyond what a fuel-powered outboard can deliver. Starting/stopping, etc., is completely silent and effortless. Also impressed with the battery life and rechargeability: we're using this on a tender to replace a larger gas Yamaha outboard. On my first 5-day trip with the Spirit 1.0, I used the device to go to shore or across a bay two to three times a day, for 5 days, and only used 40% of the battery. While anchored and running my generator for an hour, I recharged 15% of the capacity. When steering the boat, charging via my alternator, I fully charged to capacity (from 60% balance to 100% balance) in 2.5 hours of sailing the boat. The battery life seems so good, and charging so efficient, that I don't need a 2nd battery, which was a concern/consideration. Finally, I enjoy wildlife photography, and the ease of use combined with virtually silent operation allows for proximity to wildlife for photos that would not be achievable with a gas outboard. Highly recommended! Mark Leopold August 13, 2019 Source
  • Very happy with this purchase: these electric motors now make a lot of sense and I am very happy to have dumped my old Nissan 8hp for this electric 6hp. This one is completely silent with no gas or oil spills to worry about. Matthew Terrill April 12, 2019
  • Excellent: easy to use and store; get many shore visits on one charge. Love it. David M.
  • Having used the outboard for a couple of weeks and run it for about 10 hours in varying conditions, from calm to heavy Atlantic swell, I am very happy with it. As expected, I had to adjust the outboard on my Drascombe Scaffie quite a bit to allow more clearance, but it was worth it and the extra short shaft length is absolutely perfect. My daughter has named the whole process "sailing without raising the sails" Rick - May 16, 2018
  • I've been playing with the eprop all weekend and am a bit in love. Here are some observations: - the ePropulsion is definitely faster than the torqeedo (at least the 1003 I had). We get an extra half knot at half power and a full extra knot at full power. This might be because it's more effective for heavier loads, Amélie weighs about 700 kg. I no longer hold up faster boats behind me when leaving the lock. We can start at a very respectable 7 kilometers per hour (where the torqeedo topped out at 5.5).
    - the ePropulsion responds faster than the torqeedo. I don't know if this is due to the gearbox, but the power seems instantaneous, which is a real bonus when dodging a racing dinghy that's been blown off course.
    - We found the ePropulsion virtually silent at times. There were a few instances where we were sailing upwind and didn't even realize the motor was still running!! I wondered how we were doing 11 kilometers per hour
    - battery is good! On a 7 nm trip, we used half the battery both days. This was a combination of motoring, sailing & motorsailing. At least half the time it was running.
    - The ePropulsion beats the tide!! The torqeedo simply couldn't handle this.
    - ePropulsion is more manoeuvrable
    - the battery might be heavier, but the bag is great! Because it's a backpack, it's much easier to carry despite the extra weight. Also seems to be of better quality.
In short, I'm quite satisfied and happy I went for it.
    RD Rainham - July 19, 2018.
  • It has been a fantastic change for us to have the peace and quiet of the electric motor on the River Thames during the summer. The performance has been pretty good, we can get the boat (a Drascombe Lugger) to roughly hull speed, but at 6 kilometers per hour or so (the maximum speed on the river is 7-8 kilometers per hour) we comfortably get between 4 and 5 hours of power. We usually only cruise for between 3 and 4 hours, and that probably includes a lunch or sundowner at anchor/tied to the bank or a swim, so we haven't really tested the motor at 'Max'.
Aside from the quietness, the simplicity of the motor in terms of starting, restarting, and shifting has given Erica much more confidence to take the boat out alone (she never quite mastered the petrol outboard). The other real benefit is that once we remove the battery, the motor is so light that we always take it off the transom and store it below - there are many instances of outboard motor theft. I hope everything is going well, the motor has generated a lot of interest from other River users, all of whom can't believe how quiet it is. Ian Bron
