ePropulsion Spirit 1 kW Evo (Plus) with 1.3 kWh battery Electric outboard motor
ePropulsion Spirit 1 kW Evo (Plus) with 1.3 kWh battery Electric outboard motor
- The option if you are looking for an electric outboard motor with remote control or for sailors.
- Promotion: 3-year warranty when registered with ePropulsion.
- NB the basic price does not include battery and remote control
- With hydrogeneration, you receive up to 330 watts of charging current to the battery when the propeller is turning while sailing, for example! After 4 hours of sailing, an empty battery will be fully charged.
- With a larger tilt angle than the Spirit Plus.
- Available with joystick (tiller) and/or remote control / steering wheel control (remote).
- Subsidy : Electric boat motors and lithium batteries are eligible for the Environmental Investment Deduction and the Arbitrary Depreciation of Environmental Investments for commercially used vessels. With the MIA/Vamil, the tax benefit can amount to over 14% of the investment amount.
- In the event of boating damage, coverage is provided by your private liability insurance. This usually covers engine power up to 1 kW.
Alternative: the Spirit Plus tiller: a more economical option but without a charging function while sailing.
- A lightweight electric outboard motor inclusive an integrated battery: the best in its class!
-
Thrust: The power is comparable to 3 hp. Electric motors have a much higher thrust than a gasoline engine.
The engine is suitable for bringing boats up to 900 kilograms to cruising speed and boats up to 300 kilograms to hull speed.
This engine is therefore very suitable for RIBs, sloops, rubber boats (usually up to 5 meters) and sailing boats (up to 7 meters).
For boats with a lighter weight, the 0.7 kW electric outboard motor is available.
For boats with a higher weight, the ePropulsion Navy 3.0 Evo 3kW is available. -
1.276 wH wH unsinkable battery: The engine can be equipped with an easily disconnectable 1,276 wH unsinkable battery.
Assuming a consumption of 330 watts per hour (Wh), you'll get 4.5 hours of sailing. At 6 kilometers per hour, the range will be 27 kilometers. Sufficient for most water sports enthusiasts. - With the S430 electric sloop 4 meters with steering you can achieve a sailing speed at 100 Watt 5 kilometers per hour (range 65 kilometers), 250 Watt 6 kilometers per hour (range more than 30 kilometers), 500 Watt 7 kilometers per hour (range 18 kilometers), 1,000 (1 kW) Watt 8 kilometers per hour (range 10 kilometers).
- The advantage of a second battery: All components of the ePropulsion are available separately, including the battery, which is easily detachable. This means you can purchase a second battery. If you head out with two fully charged batteries, you're guaranteed a good day of sailing.
More affordable AGM or other LiFePO4 batteries are also available. - or other AGM or LiFePO4 batteries (for this you need a special external E-series battery cable 1.5 meters 159,- Article number 00-0601-08
- Charging the battery: The Spirit battery has independent charge and discharge ports, so you can connect the battery's charging port to an input power source while it's discharging. On a sunny day, you can connect the Spirit battery to a solar panel during a boat trip, allowing the battery to last a full day at a low speed.
- The Spirit 1.0 Evo and Spirit 1.0R (remote) Evo have the same tailpiece.
You can easily convert the Spirit 1.0 Evo Tiller tiller to a 1.0R Evo Remote control, which is packaged in a separate box. This means you can always convert the bike to a version with a tiller or handlebar control later (not included - optional extra). - Includes Tailpiece/Base Motor (in a box)
- Includes Spirit Plus battery (in a box when you order the battery separately)
- Includes Evo joystick (when you choose the joystick variant)
- Including Remote (top) or (side control at extra cost) and including Remote control kit with control adapter , etc. (when you choose the remote control)
- For the Remote control you only need a steering cable (from about 100 euros) and a steering wheel (from about 30 euros) to be able to sail with a steering wheel.
- Exclusive: installation €995.
- Amazing quiet : The Spirit 1.0 is virtually silent with a direct-drive motor. There's no gear transmission, which means less friction in the motor. The Spirit's noise level is comparable to that of an electric toothbrush.
- Electric start, so no longer pulling like with a combustion engine.
- Adjustable maximum power: safe for children, for example.
- Left-handed friendly: you can accelerate by turning the throttle either to the left or to the right.
- Maintenance free : The Spirit 1.0 is a game-changer. Spend significantly less time on maintenance or winterizing. Just replace the rust-resistant anode after 200 hours and grease some components. Spend less time on your outboard motor and more time enjoying the water.
- More economical than a combustion engine: One hour of full-speed sailing with the Spirit costs less than €0.25 (1 kWh). One hour of full-speed sailing with a 3-hp gasoline engine costs about 1 liter = €1.80. A gasoline engine requires an annual minor service (€110) and sometimes a major service (€200). So, with 50 hours of sailing per year, you'll save over €225 in costs! After just 3 years of sailing is electric sailing already the most beneficial (a combustion engine is approximately 50% cheaper to purchase).
- Automatically turns off after half an hour of inactivity.
- With a total weight of 20 kilograms including the battery, the set is portable, especially with the included ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 motor and battery bag. The control handle (joystick) is easily folded.

Reviews about the Plus engine that is also in this model
- Review: The Gentle 440 boat is beautiful with an excellent quality ePropulsion Spirit electric outboard motor. Nicholas
- I've owned the Gentle 430 since this summer. A wonderful boat for six people. We purchased the E-propulsion Spirit motor for the boat. It's silent, yet very powerful and has excellent battery life. Dico
- Very satisfied with the Epropulsion Spirit 1.0 PLUS - whisper-quiet and exceptionally powerful, highly recommended! René, December 22, 2020
- Great product, well made and delivers performance, convenience, portability, and QUIET! Would deserve 5 stars except for two things: 1) The tilt mechanism prevents the prop from fully lifting out of the water; 2) The short shaft is still quite long, too long in fact. I would opt for the EXTRA short shaft if you think you need a short shaft. But performance-wise, the ePropulsion meets all my expectations. Not only is it quiet, but the smooth handling for docking is far beyond what a gas outboard can deliver. Starting/stopping, etc. is completely silent and effortless. Also impressed with the battery life and rechargeability: we use this on a tender to replace a larger Yamaha gas outboard. During my first 5-day trip with the Spirit 1.0, I used it to go to shore or across a bay two to three times a day for 5 days and only used 40% of the battery. While at anchor and running my generator for an hour, I charged back up to 15% of its capacity. While operating the boat, charging via my alternator, I fully charged to capacity (from 60% balance to 100% balance) in 2.5 hours of boating. The battery life seems so good, and the charging so efficient, that I don't need a second battery, which was a concern/consideration. Finally, I enjoy nature photography, and the ease of use combined with near-silent operation allows for close-up shots of wildlife that wouldn't be possible with a gas outboard. Highly recommended! - Very happy with this purchase: these electric motors make perfect sense now, and I'm so glad I ditched my old 8-horsepower Nissan for this 6-horsepower electric one. It's completely silent, with no gas or oil leaks to worry about. Matthew Terrill, April 12, 2019 Source
- Excellent: Easy to use and store; gets you through many coastal trips on a single charge. Love it. David M.
- After using the outboard for a few weeks and about 10 hours in various conditions, from calm to heavy Atlantic waves, I'm very happy with it. As expected, I had to modify the outboard on my Drascombe Scaffie to provide more clearance, but it was worth it, and the extra-short shaft length is absolutely perfect. My daughter called the whole process "sailing without the sails up." Rick - May 16, 2018
- I've been playing with the ePropulsion all weekend and am a bit smitten. Here are a few observations: - The ePropulsion is definitely faster than the torqeedo (at least the 1003 I had). We get an extra half knot at half speed and a whole extra knot at full speed. This might be because it's more effective for heavier loads; Amélie weighs about 700 kg. I'm no longer holding up faster boats behind me when exiting the lock. We can start at a very respectable 7 km/h (whereas the torqeedo topped out at 5.5).
The ePropulsion reacts faster than the Torqeedo. I don't know if this is due to the gearbox, but the power is seemingly instantaneous, which is a real bonus when you're dodging a racing dinghy that's been blown off course.
We found the ePropulsion to be virtually silent at times. There were a few occasions when we were sailing into the wind and didn't even realize the engine was still running! I wondered how we were doing 7 mph.
- Battery is good! On a 7nm trip, we used half the battery both days. This was a combination of driving, sailing, and motorsailing. It was running at least half the time.
The ePropulsion beats the tide! The Torqeedo simply couldn't handle it.
- ePropulsion is more agile
The battery might be heavier, but the bag is great! Because it's a backpack, it's much easier to carry despite the extra weight. It also seems to be of better quality.
In short, I'm quite satisfied and glad I went for it.
RD Rainham - July 19, 2018 - It's been a fantastic change for us to have the peace and quiet of the electric motor on the River Thames during the summer. The performance has been quite good; we can get the boat (a Drascombe Lugger) up to about hull speed, but at 4 mph or so (the river's maximum speed is 4-5 mph), we comfortably get between 4 and 5 hours of power. We usually only go for 3 or 4 trips, and that probably includes a lunch or sundowner before anchoring/tying up the bank or a swim, so we haven't really tested the motor at its maximum capacity.
Aside from the quietness, the engine's simplicity in terms of starting, restarting, and shifting gears has given Erica much more confidence to go out on her own with the boat (she never quite mastered the gasoline outboard). The other real advantage is that once we've removed the battery, the engine is so light that we always take it off the transom and store it underneath—there are many cases of outboard motor theft. I hope all goes well; the engine has generated a lot of interest from other River users, who can't believe how quiet it is. - Advantages of electric boating
