Motorization
Sail without a boating license . 10 hpelectric motor (with video of this sloop) : you hear no engine noise at all. Electric sailing also means better sailing characteristics, no maintenance and ultimately lower costs. You then reach a speed of 15 kilometers per hour with 2 people. With 4 people you can sail for 4 hours non-stop at a speed of 7 kilometers per hour (4 kwh battery sufficient for a day with a range of 30 to 40 kilometers. - 9 kwh battery is also possible). A 1 kw motor is also possible with a speed of up to 8 kilometers per hour with 2 people. You can then remove the battery and charge it at home. You can easily increase your range with an extra battery . Even a 1 kw motor (reduced price 1,200 euros) can therefore be sufficient. 2 customer experiences: with a 495 sloop you usually sail 300 to 400 watts. You never sail at maximum power so you can really sail all day on the lake near our house. With a 540 sloop: around 400 watts you have a speed of 5 to 6 kilometers per hour in the canals. Consumption: 6 kilometers per hour: 500 Watts, 7 kilometers per hour: 750 Watts, 8 kilometers per hour: 1,000 Watts.
Planing sloop, the sloop has little water displacement and can therefore go faster than the bow speed. No license required: choose a 15 hp engine for a speed of up to 28 kilometers per hour. Or a 20 hp engine (with 2 people 15 to kilometers per hour) or with 30 hp (surcharge 1.075) for a speed of 35 to 40 kilometers per hour. Or even 40 hp : 2 people 43 kilometers per hour. With 50 hp you reach 50 kilometers per hour. Fast motorboat suitable for water sports and suitable for water skiing or wakeboarding (from 20 for beginners up to 35 kilometers per hour).

Review: A test report was published in a German magazine. "The sloop presents itself as a compact and rather sporty designed sloop. The very good space is typical for this kind of popular type of boat. The really generous space of the 17-footer, certified according to the CE standard C, is really great. In the rear part of the cockpit there is a bench of 160 cm wide that can be used as voluminous storage space. The same applies to the benches in front. The mechanical steering works smoothly, only 2.5 revolutions are needed to turn. A 40hp engine is perfect. During our test runs on the IJssel the sloop shows its good sailing characteristics. Under full load with a two-man crew 23 knots is possible (43 kilometers per hour). In the cockpit, a 208 x 163 cm sunbed can be created in just a few simple steps.
