- Hydrogen: charges the battery faster while sailing or with a folding propeller. It can also be charged with a 220-volt power supply or inverter.
- Easy to install
- Hydrogeneration > provides charging current to the battery when the propeller turns while sailing, for example, or when sailing faster with a folding propeller (optional).
- Comparable to a 2 hp (propulsion power) to 3 hp (thrust) combustion engine.
- The engine is suitable for boats up to 900 kilograms (2,000 lbs) at cruising speed and boats up to 300 kilograms (660 lbs) at hull speed . Is your (sailing)boat heavier? Then consider the Pod Drive 3.0 from ePropulsion or Pod Drive 6.0.
- Do you have a SUP, kayak or canoe: ePropulsion Vaquita SUP, kayak, canoe POD motor 0.3 kW 1hp with 324Wh battery
- The pod motor is mounted underneath the boat. It can only go forward or backward, so you steer with your rudder.
- As a steerable pod motor, for example by mounting in the rudder blade.
- With 2 pods and ePropulsion Evo Dual Remote Control you can also steer by propelling the pods at different speeds or in opposite directions.
- The Manual (Pod Drive 1.0)
- ePropulsion pod drives are direct-drive, maintenance-free electric motors for sailboats and small craft. They are space-saving and maximize your cabin space.
- Surprisingly quiet : You won't hear a sound on board. The Spirit 1.0 is virtually silent with a direct-drive motor. There's no gear transmission, which means less friction in the motor. The Spirit's noise level is comparable to that of an electric toothbrush. Fancy a relaxing cruise? That's exactly what electric boating offers.
- Optimal performance The pod system ensures optimal sailing characteristics, which is based on thorough development to achieve minimal water resistance.
- Epropulsion has user-friendly features developed that ensure an exceptional boating experience from installation to operation.
- Maintenance: Brushless direct-drive DC electric motor, so low-maintenance. The Pod 1.0 is a game-changer. Spend much less time on maintenance or winterizing. Replace the rust-resistant anode only when necessary, and only after 200 hours, and grease some components. Spend less time on your outboard motor and more time enjoying the water.
- Suitable for salt water.
- In the event of boating damage, coverage is provided by your private liability insurance. This usually covers engine power up to 1 kW.

Reviews
- I've owned the Gentle 430 since this summer. A wonderful boat for six people. We purchased the E-propulsion Spirit motor for the boat. It's silent, yet very powerful and has excellent battery life. Dico
- Very satisfied with the Epropulsion Spirit 1.0 PLUS - whisper-quiet and exceptionally powerful, highly recommended! René, December 22, 2020
- I'm really pleased with this extra short shaft! We tested it this afternoon, and this motor is just right. It sits well below the waterline, and tilted, it practically rises above the water. Absolutely fantastic. It also sails superbly, at full throttle between 8 and 9 km/h. At a third of the throttle, we reach between 6.5 and 7 km/h. It's striking that when you significantly reduce the power, the speed doesn't decrease all that much, while the range increases significantly! Dirk Jan, May 2021.
- Great product, well made and delivers performance, convenience, portability, and QUIET! Would deserve 5 stars except for two things: 1) The tilt mechanism prevents the prop from fully lifting out of the water; 2) The short shaft is still quite long, too long in fact. I would opt for the EXTRA short shaft if you think you need a short shaft. But performance-wise, the ePropulsion meets all my expectations. Not only is it quiet, but the smooth handling for docking is far beyond what a gas outboard can deliver. Starting/stopping, etc. is completely silent and effortless. Also impressed with the battery life and rechargeability: we use this on a tender to replace a larger Yamaha gas outboard. During my first 5-day trip with the Spirit 1.0, I used it to go to shore or across a bay two to three times a day for 5 days and only used 40% of the battery. While at anchor and running my generator for an hour, I charged back up to 15% of its capacity. While operating the boat, charging via my alternator, I fully charged it to capacity (from 60% to 100%) in 2.5 hours of boating. The battery life seems so good, and the charging so efficient, that I don't need a second battery, which was a concern/consideration. Finally, I enjoy nature photography, and the ease of use combined with near-silent operation allows for close-up shots of wildlife that wouldn't be possible with a gas outboard motor. Highly recommended! Mark Leopold August 13, 2019 Source
- Very happy with this purchase: these electric motors make perfect sense now, and I'm so glad I ditched my old 8-horsepower Nissan for this 6-horsepower electric one. It's completely silent, with no gas or oil leaks to worry about. Matthew Terrill, April 12, 2019
- Excellent: Easy to use and store; gets you through many coastal trips on a single charge. Love it. David M.
- After using the outboard for a few weeks and about 10 hours in various conditions, from calm to heavy Atlantic waves, I'm very happy with it. As expected, I had to modify the outboard on my Drascombe Scaffie to provide more clearance, but it was worth it, and the extra-short shaft length is absolutely perfect. My daughter called the whole process "sailing without the sails up." Rick - May 16, 2018
- I've been playing with the ePropulsion all weekend and am a bit smitten. Here are a few observations: - The ePropulsion is definitely faster than the torqeedo (at least the 1003 I had). We get an extra half knot at half speed and a whole extra knot at full speed. This might be because it's more effective for heavier loads; Amélie weighs about 700 kg. I'm no longer holding up faster boats behind me when exiting the lock. We can start at a very respectable 7 km/h (whereas the torqeedo topped out at 5.5).
The ePropulsion reacts faster than the Torqeedo. I don't know if this is due to the gearbox, but the power is seemingly instantaneous, which is a real bonus when you're dodging a racing dinghy that's been blown off course.
We found the ePropulsion to be virtually silent at times. There were a few occasions when we were sailing into the wind and didn't even realize the engine was still running! I wondered how we were doing 7 mph.
 - Battery is good! On a 7nm trip, we used half the battery both days. This was a combination of driving, sailing, and motorsailing. It was running at least half the time.
The ePropulsion beats the tide! The Torqeedo simply couldn't handle it.
 - ePropulsion is more agile
The battery might be heavier, but the bag is great! Because it's a backpack, it's much easier to carry despite the extra weight. It also seems to be of better quality.
In short, I'm quite satisfied and glad I went for it.

- It's been a fantastic change for us to have the peace and quiet of the electric motor on the River Thames during the summer. The performance has been quite good; we can get the boat (a Drascombe Lugger) up to about hull speed, but at 4 mph or so (the river's maximum speed is 4-5 mph), we comfortably get between 4 and 5 hours of power. We usually only go for 3 or 4 trips, and that probably includes a lunch or sundowner before anchoring/tying up the bank or a swim, so we haven't really tested the motor at its maximum capacity.
Aside from the quietness, the engine's simplicity in terms of starting, restarting, and shifting has given Erica much more confidence to go out on her own with the boat (she never quite mastered the petrol outboard). The other real advantage is that once we've removed the battery, the engine is so light that we always take it off the transom and store it underneath—there are many cases of outboard motor theft. I hope all goes well; the engine has generated a lot of interest from other River owners, who can't believe how quiet it is. Ian Bron
