With the “plug & play” system, you can quickly enjoy the benefits of your Rudder Drive. Installation/connection is simple and even possible with limited technical knowledge. No complex wiring or intricate connections. The Rudder Drive comes with clear, detailed instructions to guide you through each step.
The Rudder Drive utilizes the hydrogeneration function, meaning the battery is charged by current. So when sailing with the combustion engine, the Rudder Drive's battery recharges. 1,215,-
For high speeds with the combustion engine, a folding propeller is necessary, as well as an additional bracket (295,-). This has been successfully tested with an Antaris boat with a 200hp diesel engine.

New! Extra option. The pod motor mounted on your combustion outboard motor.
This allows you to boat electrically in hybrid mode, for example in Amsterdam or Haarlem. The Pod motor (see last image) is mounted in a double rudder.
You can always dismount the pod motor. Other advantages of the double rudder: improved maneuverability at low speed, improved course stability and protective function. Price 1,495,-. Installation by Marinaut possible. - The manual (Pod Drive 1.0)
- ePropulsion pod drives are direct-drive and maintenance-free electric motors for sailboats and small vessels. They are space-saving and maximize your cabin space.
- Amazingly quiet: You won't hear any noise on board. The Spirit 1.0 is virtually silent with a direct-drive motor. There is no gearbox, which means less friction in the motor. The noise level of the Spirit is comparable to that of an electric toothbrush. Fancy a relaxing trip? That's exactly what electric boating offers.
- Optimal performance The pod system ensures optimal sailing characteristics, based on thorough development to achieve minimal water resistance.
- Epropulsion has user-friendly features that ensure an extraordinary boating experience from installation to operation.
- Maintenance: Brushless direct drive DC electric motor, so low maintenance. The Pod 1.0 is a game-changer. Spend much less time on maintenance or winterizing. Only replace the anti-corrosion anode after 200 hours when necessary, and lubricate a few parts. Spend less time on your outboard motor and more time enjoying the water.
- Suitable for saltwater.
- In case of sailing damage, coverage falls under your personal liability insurance. This usually covers up to engine powers of 1 kW.

Reviews
- Since this summer, I am the owner of Gentle 430. A wonderful boat for 6 people. We purchased the E-propulsion Spirit (motor) with the boat. Silent, yet very powerful and excellent battery life.Díco
- Very satisfied with the Epropulsion Spirit 1.0 PLUS - whisper quiet and exceptionally powerful, highly recommended! René 22 December 2020
- This extra short shaft is great! We tried it out this afternoon and this motor is just right. It's well below the waterline and when tilted, it's almost completely out of the water. Absolutely perfect. It also sails great, full throttle between 8 – 9 km/h. At a third of the power, we get between 6.5 and 7 km/h. It's striking that if you reduce the power considerably, the speed doesn't decrease much, while the action radius increases quite a bit! Dirk Jan May 2021.
- Excellent product, well made and delivers performance, convenience, portability and SILENT! Would deserve 5 stars, except for two aspects: 1) the tilt mechanism doesn't allow the prop to come completely out of the water; 2) The short shaft is still quite long, actually too long. I would opt for EXTRA short shaft if you think you need a short shaft. But in terms of performance, the ePropulsion meets all my expectations. Not only is it quiet, but the fine control for docking goes far beyond what a fuel-powered outboard can provide. Starting / stopping, etc. is completely silent and effortless. Also impressed with the battery life and rechargeability: we use this on a tender to replace a larger gas-powered Yamaha outboard. During my first 5-day trip with the Spirit 1.0, I used the device to go ashore or across a bay two to three times a day, for 5 days and only used 40% of the battery. While at anchor and running my generator for an hour, I recharged 15% of the capacity. When controlling the boat, charging via my alternator, I fully recharged to capacity (from 60% balance to 100% balance) in 2.5 hours of boating. The battery life seems so good, and charging so efficient, that I don't need a 2nd battery, which was a concern / consideration. Finally, I enjoy nature photography, and the ease of use combined with virtually silent operation allows for proximity to wildlife to take photos that would not be achievable with a gas-powered outboard. Highly recommended! Mark Leopold August 13, 2019 Source
- Very happy with this purchase: these electric motors now make perfect sense and I'm very glad I ditched my old Nissan 8 hp for this electric 6 hp. This one is completely silent with no gas or oil spills to worry about. Matthew Terrill April 12, 2019
- Excellent: easy to use and store; get many shore visits on a single charge. Love it. David M.
- Having used the outboard for a few weeks and run it for about 10 hours in various conditions, from calm to heavy Atlantic waves, I am very happy with it. As expected, I had to adjust the outboard on my Drascombe Scaffie properly to provide more clearance, but it was worth it and the extra short shaft length is absolutely perfect. My daughter has named the entire process "sailing without raising the sails" Rick - May 16, 2018
- I've been playing with the eprop all weekend and I'm a little in love. Here are some observations: - the ePropulsion is definitely faster than the torqeedo (at least the 1003 I had). We get an extra half knot at half power and a full extra knot at full power. This might be due to it being more effective for heavier loads, Amélie weighs about 700 kg. I no longer hold up faster boats behind me when leaving the lock. We can start at a very respectable 7 kilometers per hour (where the torqeedo topped out at 5.5).
- the ePropulsion responds faster than the torqeedo. I don't know if this is due to the gearbox, but the power is seemingly instant, which is a real bonus when dodging a racing dinghy that's blown off course.
- We found the ePropulsion occasionally almost silent. There were a few instances where we were sailing upwind and didn't even realize the motor was still running!! I wondered how we were doing 11 kilometers per hour
- battery is good! On a 7 nm trip, we used half the battery on both days. This was a combination of motoring, sailing & motor-sailing. At least half the time it was running.
- The ePropulsion beats the tide!! The torqeedo simply couldn't handle this.
- ePropulsion is more maneuverable
- the battery might be heavier, but the bag is superb! Being a backpack, it's much easier to carry despite the extra weight. Also seems to be of better quality.
In short, I'm quite satisfied and happy I went for it.
RD Rainham - July 19, 2018. - It has been a fantastic change for us to have the peace and quiet of the electric motor on the River Thames during the summer. The performance was quite good, we can get the boat (a Drascombe Lugger) to about hull speed, but at 6 kilometers per hour or so (the maximum speed on the river is 7-8 kilometers per hour) we comfortably get between 4 and 5 hours of power. We usually only cruise for between 3 and 4 hours, and that probably includes a lunch or sundowner drink at anchor / tied to the bank or a dip in the water, so we haven't really tested the engine at 'Max'.
Apart from the quietness, the simplicity of the engine in terms of starting, restarting and switching has given Erica much more confidence to go out alone with the boat (she never quite mastered the petrol outboard). The other real advantage is that once we remove the battery, the engine is so light that we always take it off the transom and store it underneath - there are many cases of outboard motor theft. I hope all goes well, the engine has generated a lot of interest from other River users, all of whom can't believe how quiet it is. Ian Source
