The Oud Huijzer 616 has a full bow, a beautiful neat rubbing list and above that a modern rope ring that beautifully accentuates the lines. Plenty of space and mobility to sail nicely. This boat has a very spacious cockpit and due to the design of the underwater hull, this boat has fantastic sailing characteristics.

Oudhuijzer is a brand that has been on the market since 2000 and has been known for its quality for 20 years! Not for nothing the most sought after brand.
These tenders are built entirely by hand using the hand lay-up method, using the most modern and environmentally friendly materials available on the market.
Oudhuijzer uses Dutch rope rings from the Langman rope factory, which have guaranteed excellent quality since 1638.
Market research has shown that Oudhuijzer is one of the brands with a high to very high residual value, because the materials used are truly of sublime quality.
Cushions are handmade from a fabric with a very high specific weight so that you can still sit comfortably after 2 trips. These are covered with high-quality quilted Diamante fabric or Sunbrella Plus fabric (reduced price).
The self-draining cockpit floor is located safely above the waterline for assured dry sailing.
Review magazine Boten.nl: Speed and comfort in an attractive package by Laurens Koster.
"The tender, the fast sister of a sloop, is currently the most popular boat type in the statistics. That is not surprising. The combination of comfort like in a sloop with the excitement of a sports boat makes a boat type that quickly meets all requirements. A comfortable and compact tender with an affordable price tag.
The new Oud Huijzer we are introduced to is adorned in black, both the hull and the deck and interior. It gives the boat a tough, somewhat threatening appearance. Black has been the new fashion for this type of boat for some time now. It looks good and there is another advantage. The discolouration on the waterline due to oil pollution is not visible, as with a white hull, but on black you can see every dried drop of water. Some discolouration will also occur over the years. How quickly depends on the maintenance and how the boat is covered when it is not being sailed. Together with regular cleaning and the right products, the influence of sunlight can fortunately be greatly limited. Of course, the boat is also available in other colours.
But besides the colour, the lines of the new Oud Huijzer also make it a pleasant appearance. The boat has a reasonably high freeboard with a full bow that reminds one of a sloop. Yet that height is not noticeable due to a rubber rubbing strip with a neat Langman rope fender above it that both breaks and accentuates the lines of the boat. With a set of tensioners, the ropes are pulled tight after which they can no longer move.
The foredeck is kept modest for optimum interior space. It does offer a neat place for a full-fledged anchor locker.
At the rear are the engine well and the swimming platform, which again take up a relatively large amount of space. However, the size of the well is not noticeable. On either side, two steps break both the width and the height of the transom, while outboard engines up to 70 HP can be accommodated under the flap.
The test boat is equipped with a 50hp Tohatsu . We have sailed with it more often and each time the conclusion is that Tohatsu's do their work remarkably smoothly and quietly. This 3 cylinder 4 stroke is no exception. Incidentally, the boat has no rudder, so steering is also done with the engine. In the bun it is important to provide the engine with sufficient oxygen. Exhaust gases must also not accumulate in the closed space. With a set of generously sized air vents and a drain hose that is perfectly arranged.
The interior is spacious and comfortable. More than you would expect from a 6 meter boat where a large part is also reserved for a motor bun and swimming platform. That bun does have the advantage that there is no motor box, which creates much more living space in the boat. The full bow and the modest foredeck also make a round seat possible that is further forward and nice and deep in the boat. This also makes a sleek and especially low spray hood possible that still offers sufficient seat height without disturbing the lines. of the boat. The polyester work is also well finished, also in the storage space under the benches. Oud Huijzer sloops are known for their good build quality. Even the older models still look good after years, provided of course the owner does some maintenance. This new one clearly has the impression of doing honor to that tradition.
Behind the steering console is a two-person bench with a neatly finished storage space for the fuel tank and battery underneath. The high backrests with the standard Sunbrella Plus cushion set complete the comfort.
On a virtually flat and windless Veluwemeer it is striking how easily the Oud Huijzer 616 gets into plané. We sail effortlessly at about 20 kilometers per hour with the throttle half open. Full throttle the boat clocks a top speed of about 42 kilometers per hour. Under water the Oud Huijzer has a moderate V-shape.
Not too deep which is an advantage in these calm conditions. Less engine power is needed for an attractive speed. On the other hand, in waves the boat must have enough power to go through or over them with the full bow. We stay dry but it is to be expected that some spray water will reach the cockpit under these conditions. The boat steers like a charm. At least, that is what you draw on the water when you sail a circle. Manoeuvring also offers no surprises. There is no rudder so you steer with the propeller. Of course, it has to turn. With more or less throttle you determine the size of the turning circle. It feels a bit unnatural to give throttle when it gets tight but with some getting used to it becomes a reflex.
The time when noble water sports were reserved for a small elite with a broad budget is fortunately behind us. With the arrival of a more widespread prosperity and more free time, a boat has come within reach of a much larger group. The difference between then and now is enormous. With the introduction of new production techniques that allow a series of boats to be produced quickly and efficiently, a mega investment is no longer necessary. Boat Import Holland is an importer that is partly responsible for this development. By having boats produced in Poland at an early stage, there is now, 20 years later, a well-oiled organization that is able to produce large numbers of tenders, cabins and sloops that fully meet "our" quality requirements. The pricing, on the other hand, is much less from here.
Despite the somewhat threatening appearance of the Oud Huijzer 616 Tender in this colour scheme, the sailing characteristics of the boat can be described as good-natured. It is a surprisingly good sailing and easy to handle tender that sails like a sports boat with a relatively modest power of 50 HP."
