The Pod Drive 3.0 Evo from ePropulsion has the following advantages:
- Space saving (not in the boat)
- Silent / vibration-free
- Maintenance free
- Seawater resistant
- No cooling required
- More beautiful than an outboard motor
- Hydrogenation; charges the battery while sailing or sailing faster with a folding propeller.

POD motor benefits: Pod drives are direct-drive, maintenance-free electric motors for sailboats and small craft. They are space-saving and maximize your cabin space.
Furthermore, POD engines offer an efficiency gain of between 15 and 30 percent compared to inboard engines. Because they extend below the waterline and point straight forward, there is no efficiency-degrading shaft angle, as with inboard engines. This means that the thrust is directed in a straight line. Less power and therefore consumption is needed to propel a boat at the same speed compared to inboard engines. - As a steerable pod motor, for example by mounting it in the rudder blade.
- Optimal performance: Epropulsion Pod systems ensure optimal sailing characteristics, based on thorough development to achieve minimal water resistance.
- Originally introduced on the Spirit 1.0 and Navy 3.0, Pod Drive systems have all the benefits of traditional ePropulsion outboards and more. Epropulsion has developed more user-friendly features that deliver an exceptional boating experience from installation to operation.
- Comparable to a 5 hp (propulsion power) to 8 hp (thrust) internal combustion engine.
- The engine is suitable for bringing boats up to 2,700 kilograms to cruising speed and boats up to 950 kilograms to hull speed . Is your (sailing) boat lighter? Then take a look at the Pod Drive 1.0 by ePropulsion. For heavier boats the ePropulsion Pod Drive 6.0 Evo electric pod motor 6.0 kW 10 hp 48V 63A is available.
- More affordable AGM or other LiFePO4 batteries are also available.
-
Subsidy : Electric boat engines and lithium batteries are eligible for Environmental Investment Deduction and Arbitrary Depreciation of Environmental Investments for vessels used commercially. The tax benefit can amount to over 14% of the investment amount with the MIA\Vamil.
- We have included some test reports (cruising time and distance) of a comparable engine Navy 3.0.
- Test report Beneteau 235 7.1 meters, 1,282 kilograms dry weight with 2 persons and 4 knots of wind with ePropulsion E80 LiFePO4 Battery 4.096Wh 48V 80Ah waterproof
- 1.0 kW: 8.0 km/h and 32 kilometer range
- 1.5 kW: 8.9 km/h and 24 kilometer range
- 3 kW: 10.5 km/h and 14 kilometer range
- Test report 7.3 meter sailing boat with ePropulsion E175 LiFePO4 Battery 8.960 Wh 48V 175Ah waterproof
- 0.75 kW: 6 km/h, 144 kilometers range
- 1.5 kW: 7.5 km/h 90 kilometer range

Steerable pod with rudder drive : also for hybrid sailing. Dimensions A (see photo) 575 mm, B 60 mm, C 600 mm D *Different sizes on request.
With the “plug & play” system you can quickly enjoy the benefits of your Rudder Drive. Installation/connection is easy and is possible even with little technical knowledge. No complex wiring or complicated connections. The Rudder Drive comes with clear, detailed instructions to guide you through every step.
The Rudder Drive uses the hydrogeneration function, which means that the battery is charged by current. So when sailing with the combustion engine, the battery of the Rudder Drive charges again. The Rudder Drive can also be operated in fully electric mode for a zero-emissions experience.
- Speed control:
- ePropulsion Side Control for Spirit Evo, Navy Evo and Pod Drive Evo Remote Control
- or ePropulsion Navy, Pod Drive, Spirit Evo Remote top of remote control
- or ePropulsion Evo Dual Remote Control
- Excluding: Battery: minimum 63Ah. For a consumption of 1 kWh and 4 hours of sailing, assume a 4 kWh battery. Recommended: ePropulsion E80 LiFePO4 Battery 4.1 kWh 48V. At 7 kilometers per hour the range is then 28 kilometers. Sufficient for most water sports enthusiasts.
